What's Your Story?

Your story is powerful. It can motivate, educate, and make policies and rules real. It can make a difference.

We uplift stories and perspectives nationwide, sharing them with elected officials, media, and the public to show what we are fighting for. We welcome any stories you wish to share with us. Some examples of stories you may want to share include your personal experiences with:

  • Medicaid health insurance and home and community-based services
  • The use of seclusion and restraint in the classroom
  • Supplemental Security Income asset limits
  • Marriage penalties and inequalities
  • Overcoming stigma or discrimination because of disability
  • And more!

Please only share as much as you feel comfortable being public. Keep in mind that sharing specific information could inadvertently reveal who you are.

Learn more here about The Arc’s Story Sharing Rules and how your story may be used publicly. If you have any questions or if your story appears publicly on The Arc's website and you want it removed, please email stories@thearc.org.
